We said goodbye to Margaret Weathers on May 14. After approximately 20 years of service to the denomination, with the last two years specifically with our entity (Office for Regional Conference Ministries), she packed up her desk one final time. It’s hard to imagine our hallways without her steady presence. Though her journey with Elder Dana C. Edmond began in Memphis and culminated in her role as Executive Assistant here at ORCM, Margaret brought a quiet dignity to everything she touched.
If you’ve been around long enough, you’ll remember when Margaret juggled three hats at once: Administrative Assistant, HR Director, and Conference Membership Clerk back when E-Adventist was just getting started. No job was too big. No challenge too daunting. Later, she broke new ground as South Central’s first dedicated HR Director, creating systems and procedures that still serve the denomination today. Then came retirement or so we thought. When crisis hit our office years later, one phone call from Elder Edmond brought Margaret back. She relocated to Huntsville and returned to service when the organization needed her most. That’s who Margaret Weathers is.
What truly sets Mrs. Weathers apart is her professionalism and strength of character. Each morning she arrived on time, ready to tackle whatever the day held. Her dedication to excellence never faltered through four decades of service. As the final box was carried to her car on her last day, the organization’s gratitude could hardly be captured in words. The halls of ORCM will certainly be different without Mrs. Weathers’ presence, but her legacy of dedication and exceptional service will continue to influence the organization for years to come.
