ORCM and RCRP Involved in Community Service Project

ORCM and RCRP Involved in Community Service Project

The Office for Regional Conference Ministries (ORCM) and the Regional Conference Retirement Plan (RCRP) staff recently closed their office in Huntsville for approximately half a day to engage in a community service project. They were joined in this project by the three members of the Huntsville architectural firm, KPS.

KPS was the firm that designed the Charles E. Dudley, Sr., Center for Regional Conference Ministries–the new office building that houses ORCM and RCRP. Ben Collins of KPS recently contacted the ORCM and RCRP staff and asked for KPS to be included in the next community service project that ORCM and RCRP had planned.

RCRP Executive Assistant to the Executive Director, Mrs. Alice Dent, was tasked with planning the service project. She was led to select the Huntsville Rescue Mission, which provides meals for those needing meals and those who are homeless.

The ORCM/RCRP/KPS group met at the Rescue Mission and divided into two groups. The first group served a group of ladies and the second group served a group of men. Approximately 200 individuals were served. Additionally, the ORCM/RCRP staff brought blankets to be distributed to those who needed them.

The group remarked how often those who they served expressed their gratitude for the service the ORCM/RCRP/KPS group provided them. Serving others reminded the group of how blessed they were to be able to serve, instead of needing to be served.

Plans are being discussed for additional service projects and the KPS firm expressed a desire to be included in those plans.
