On April 26-28th, AEC’s Communication and Technology Department hosted their 9th Annual Connection and Ministry Conference (CAMCON) brought together more than 60 attendees representing 24 churches within Allegheny East. The theme was “Refresh” and focusing on breathing new life into local church communication ministries. The conference featured presentations on the topic of developing your team and communication strategy; social media, interviewing skills, and streaming.

Presenters included husband-and-wife ministry duo, DaVita and Andre Benson; Alyssa Truman, assistant Communication Direction for the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, and Everett Wiles, Vice President for Integrated Marketing and Communication at Washington Adventist University. Pastor Geston Pierre served the worship speaker during Saturday’s service.

In addition to various daily give-aways, some churches were recognized with CAMCON awards for excellence in Communication Ministry. Winners included:

  • Best Website and Social Media: Metropolitan Church ($500 for each category)
  • Best Production ($500)
  • Small Church Grants: Mizpah and First Millsboro ($1,000 each)

In addition, AEC administration gifted $1,000 to each church represented for their communication and media ministry needs.

The conference concluded with a live recording of the UpSet Podcast, with CAMCON participants as the live audience.

“CAMCON 2024 was more than I could have imagined. Seeing the collaboration and zeal from our local communicators was truly a fulfilling and refreshing experience,” says LaTasha Hewitt, communication director.

Thank you to all who made it an exciting time.
